For his first solo exhibition at Pinkie Bowtie, Peter Fengler (NL, °1964) will be presenting ‘NIETS GAAT MEER’ (RIEN NE VAS PLUS) : For whoever’s willing to hear (and feel); utilizing sound as a (sculptural) medium for language and sign.
The exhibition will consist of a series of sculptural pieces of mixed media prints, vinyls and artifacts. Peter Fengler questions the relationship between sound and performance using different media such as vinylrecords, sculpture, installation, performance and multiples. In his performances he seeks to turn bitter absurdity, mundane sounds and poetry into elaborate and precise soundcollages. Besides live actions he is especially interested in the reproduction of sound, the optic and acoustic qualities of vinyl as well as the untapped potential of its materiality. The work invariably reverberates somewhere between intellectual pursuits and nonsense, expresses a fondness for “ultrahobbyism”, and is characterized by subversive undertones.
We are happy to announce Peter Fengler has been shortlisted for the MK Award 2017 (New Award for Contemporary Art Practice)!
